Senior Production Programmer

During my time at Acxiom I was asked to join a new, small and upcoming company based in Maidstone. I duly accepted and became part of a young (around 10 employees at the time) but ambitious data bureau which was already showing strong growth. Here my main skill set utilised is SAS, with some SQL. During my time with the company I have again achieved promotions and currently hold the position of Senior Production Programmer. In my current role I am in charge of the day to day production running of one of our biggest accounts as well as training lower level employees to reach higher standards. I am also involved with streamlining and documenting of current processes in order to make future work easier and more efficient.

Around June of 2004 Altwood Systems (more so its parent company Claritas) was acquired by the American based company Acxiom Ltd. During my time there I achieved a succession of promotions and furthered my knowledge base and skill set to include the facilities used by Acxiom. I quickly picked up a further set of in-house skills (tools and company understanding)  and became aware of different aspects within the direct marketing industry and the way different companies approach problems in their own unique way.

I started out working for Altwood Systems in September 2002 when it was a small company with a staff of about 50 employees. During my time here I became familiar with DOS, some SQL and SAS. Whilst working here I also learnt how and office environment operates and how to deal with fellow co-workers and deadlines.  I have learnt many key skills, a lot of which were based specifically around the companies in-house tools, which I had to pick up quickly. It gave me the best start possible for my working career.

I worked as a shop assistant in a popular surfing/skateboarding styled store. My duties included serving the public, selling prodcuts and marking sure the appearance of the shop was at its best as much as possible. Key Skills

I am highly computer and Internet literate and have a high knowledge of PC based skills including working in DOS, UNIX and many other Windows based programs, including Microsoft Powerpoint, Excel, Word and Access. I have an excellent understanding in the setting up and executing of commands on both DOS and UNIX environments.  I also have a strong knowledge of SAS and HTML and have a basic understanding of SQL and PERL.


Personal Profile

I am a hard working and organised person with good communication skills, a high achiever, who can work alone or as part of a team showing great initiative. I have a very open personality and can work easily with other people and am able to use this approach to learn quickly and more efficiently. I am able to work under pressure meeting deadlines and always have a positive approach. I feel I am versatile and can quickly adjust or adapt to any new system or way of working should they arise.

In my personal time I enjoy socialising, travelling and playing many sports (including football and golf). I also like relaxing by spending time fishing and reading. I studied French at school and achieved a G.C.S.E. grading. I enjoyed learning a new language which lead to me using my personal time to learn German and I am enjoying the challenge and sense of reward associated with being able to communicate in a new way.
