Skills
System administration:
Broad knowledge of mixed environments, more than 5 years of experience.
- Server side technologies: Slackware (preferred) , OpenSUSE, SLES. SQL databases (mysql, SQL language, database optimization), webservices (apache, php), fileservers (samba, nfs), firewalls, mail servers, collaboration solutions, DHCP, LDAP, VPN, etc. Microsoft Servers (NT, 2003), Exchange.
- Client side technologies: Microsoft's DOS, Windows (3.1, 95, 98, ME, 2000, XP, Vista), FreeDOS, Linux (Ubuntu, SUSE, Zenwalk, thin clients), MacOSX. Office packages (Microsoft Office, OpenOffice), mail clients, DTP software (Photoshop, Freehand, CorelDraw, Quark, etc), sound engineering software (CubaseSX, Sonar, Nuendo, Ableton Live, Wavelab, etc), video cutting (Canopus Edius), etc.
Linux migration:
I have led several projects in the last 3 years in the small business area, where the goal was to migrate to Linux or highly mixed platforms.
Software development:
GUI development for cross-platform ERP solutions based on SQL technologies. (2 years of experience.)
I develop in C++ with the Qt library as a multi platform environment. My applications often run on Windows and Linux machines at the same time. I'm not so brilliant C++ programmer, but pretty good with the Qt and SQL related tasks.
Group leading and business management:
For 4 years I was in charge of a small Hungarian company in all meanings. The company was doing system building and administration for small businesses. I was coordinating the actual work, as well all what you need to run a company. Including PR, financial analysis, etc.
I have also interests in non-profit organisations, I was arranging several nation wide meetings and events as a hobby.
Graphic design:
For a little bit more than a half year I was working as graphic designer. I'm not very experienced, and I don't want to work in this area, but it gives me a good background for GUI development or visual presentations.
Sound and video engineering:
In the last 5 years I have worked a lot in the music industry. I had several tasks in this area.
I'm not a specialist, but I can handle well plenty of sound and video engineering software, including Steinberg's Cubase, Wavelab, Cakewalk Sonar, Ableton Live, Canopus Edius systems, etc. I know how to build up these systems, I have a good general knowledge about sound and video technologies. Even I have produced a few studio records, you can find in music stores.
Handling VIP requests:
Through my work in the music industry, I was often in charge for the technical background of festivals. It means, I was meeting international superstars and managements, and I was there to fulfil their needs. You must always handle them in a delicate manner, and I never failed through these years.
Languages:
Hungarian (native), English (good), German (poor, mostly written and computer related), Russian and Japanese (mostly forgotten, but have some ground if I have to start to learn them again)
Other:
Driving Licence category B
Current residence:
Hungary, Sopron (near to the Austrian-Hungarian border, 60 km away from Vienna)
I'm mobile, ready to move to a new place.
Previous work places in time order:
Graphic designer (Soproni Szuperinfó hungarian marketing newspaper). 7 months
Shop assistant in a bookstore (Valhalla páholy). 4 months.
Computer service and sale (Escape Computer). 18 months.
System Administration and software development (Major Elektron Kft). 12 months.
System Administration and festival tech management (Wiesen Events GmbH). 5 years.
Company management (M.K. PC Szerviz Kft). 4 years, some time is parallel with the previous work.
Degrees:
Yet this is a weak point of my CV. I have nothing more then a high school. In the mid '90s the economical situation was hard in Hungary, after spending a few months on university, I wasn't able to continue it due to financial problems. So, I have self-learned everything through all these years. None of my employers was complaining about papers ever, when they saw what I'm capable.
