Wordrap interview with Chris Dorner
In April JoinVision’s management team welcomed a new addition! Chris Dorner is taking the reins together with Wolfgang Gastager and will oversee our Sales and Customer Success teams. Now, with not one but two highly qualified Managing Directors JoinVision can rely on an even stronger leadership in the times ahead.

Chris is no stranger to the recruiting world and has been working for JobCloud, our Swiss owners, since 2015.
To get to know him on a more personal level, we asked Chris for a wordrap interview.
I was born in Zurich on November 30th 1968 as an Austrian citizen thanks to my Austrian parents. I am married and a proud father of three kids (14 and 15 years old – yep, 1+1=3). And if that was not enough, we also have 2 cats, 1 dog, 4 rats, 1 hamster and fish…
So, it’s no secret that I am a family man, who loves spending time in nature but can also easily stay inside for a whole weekend binge-watching Star Wars.
As a kid I wanted to become a palaeontologist, digging out dinosaurs...
My all-time favourite song is mh, difficult to say, there are so many great songs. I get goose bumps listening to Beethoven’s Pastorale but also Queen’s Bohemian Rapsody… I will go with “Always look on the bright side of life” by Monty Python.
To relax I need well, that depends; a beautiful view; a glass of wine or a cold beer, a nice dinner, BBQ over a bonfire, surrounded by friends, a sound session with my band, a dart game.
I lose my cool when someone is incompetent, talks the talk but doesn’t walk the walk, has a negative outlook on life in general. Though, I also nag every now and again, but that’s kind of my fatherly duty so to say.
You can make my day with open communication and a good spirit and of course a good joke! Courtesy and respect also put a smile on my face!
A life event that I am very proud of are the births of my children and cave diving in Yucatan/Mexico.
My kids will probably say about me that I’m annoying.
A moment that shaped me was summer camp with people with special needs. After that “normal” got a new meaning.
I started working at JobCloud in December 2015 in the area of Sales Management Classifieds and as a member of the Swiss executive board.
I accepted the offer to work with JoinVision, because after about 4 years I was looking for a new challenge and because the ad business has been changing a lot; keyword: programmatic distribution for job ads - which has been proven to work great in online advertising for years already. The opportunity to develop a market for it in the German-speaking countries together with Joveo and JoinVision’s technology both made me very interested in this job.
I am looking forward to working with the JoinVision team, because I get to speak in Austrian dialect with them, and of course because I am certain that we can get a lot of great things happening. Right now what I am most looking forward to, though, is getting to meet the team in person – once mandatory home office and social distancing are over!
I believe in the success of JoinVision, because not believing in success is like already expecting failure! JoinVision has a great reputation for technological solutions in the recruiting industry. We will use this position to our advantage and expand our services.
My vision for JoinVision in the upcoming year is…Helmut Schmidt (a German politician) once said, if you have visions you better go see a doctor ? Our mission in the Sales team will be to successfully position Joveo, a new highly advanced product – as a forerunner in the market.
